How Rockstar Gym Started...

TRACY VAUGHN, FOUNDER

The Idea
Rockstar Kettlebell Gym opened in June of 2008, with the intent to offer something different in the area.  Functional Training, using primarily kettlebells and making members feel like a part of an elite group that is friendly, but result driven.  Not just a member who falls through the cracks as a lot do at our local big box gyms.

About Tracy
With 26 years of experience in the fitness industry and developing programs and classes at a few of the larger gyms in the area—I have always been the risk taker.  Setting myself apart from the rest was a huge goal at all times.  Rockstar was that challenge to try what I thought works best for others and will get the masses in shape.

Expansion
Rockstar started with personal training and a few classes at 1500 sq ft. studio.  Far from the 55,000 sq ft facility I had left.  A year later I expanded into 2,500 sq ft, added 3 trainers and approximately 20 classes.  Clients were learning something new, getting in shape and loving it!  I could feel the Rockstar family forming and people forming relationships to help hold each other accountable.  A place to come and work hard next to someone who wants the same thing you want.   Four years later – Rockstar started venturing into student athletes consistently with the hiring of Steve Stahl.  The talk of expanding again had come to our attention in order to efficiently run multiple programs at once.  After tossing it around for a year – we decided to expand into a 6,400 sq ft facility and I made the decision to sell Rockstar to trainer Steve Stahl.

Looking Forward
Rockstar needed to expand again, however I was not ready to take on more responsibly at this time in my life.  With the ambition and energy Steve has, he will is the perfect leader to take Rockstar to the next level.  I now, get to go back to basic’s with training and instructing the members and spending more time with my family!  I love Rockstar and where it is going and now having the opportunity to mentor other trainers to create that “X Factor"!”
